Hello friends, sponsors, donors, and family!,
I’ll try to keep this post brief, but always feel free to reach out to me with any questions you have!
I recently realized that my “draft post” for the new year didn’t post, so I want to apologize for the delay in website updates. If you have Instagram or Facebook, please make sure you’re following us through the links below. I can assure you these bi-weekly post on our social accounts are what we all need to feel the joy these girls so freely give!
FAQs
“When are you going back to visit?”
Unfortunately, I still do not know. The RH staff and I have been praying diligently to know when the best time to go will be. It’s off the books until at least October, and I look at itinerary openings each week. To keep the explanation short, as soon as one route opens, another one closes, which means I would not be assured that I’d make it in or out of the country. The pandemic + the ongoing war crisis has impacted travel, even to Southeast Asia. As always, we welcome your prayer to be patient in the waiting but also that He will make a way for a sweet reunion soon!
“When you do go, can we send things?”
This is all dependent on if I travel solo, or if I’m able to bring a small team with me. We always prioritize the necessities and try to pack as light as possible.. so much so that we can leave suitcases behind and only come back home with minimal things. Normally we bring gifts and toys and games, but priorities will be based on the request of the house moms and administration who currently live in the day to day needs. If travel does allow a team to go, I will happily update everyone of this “priority list”
“Can we mail things now?”
In short, sadly the answer is no. Due to many things politically and logistically, we’ve never successfully sent items/letters.. it always gets “screened” and never arrives. This is why we have our “general funds” that you can donate towards and message us about specifics that you want purchased (I.e dresses, chalk, books..etc)
“What are the girls doing with all the down time?”
Thankfully, school is back open and our girls are back in school. While they were out, they spent their day with tutors, teachers for song and dance, and lots of time learning environmental and home life skills (gardening, fishing, cooking..etc). We know the school is not a constant, so there will always be back up plans to make sure our girls are getting the best education and having fun while doing so!
“How can I sponsor a child?”
I’m so grateful to all of our donors as all 13 of our girls are fully sponsored. However, I am happy to put you on the list for when we rescue another girl.. the time is quickly approaching as our efforts are back in full! For now, you can give to the general funds, and as soon as a sponsorship is needed, you will be the first to be able to donate directly to the newest princess of the home.
Since my last update, we were able to rescue one more girl, sweet Umaya U Marma. She had a family, but when her father passed from liver cancer, the mother chose to go back to the br0+h3l*. We’re so lucky to have Umaya. I truly cannot wait to meet her face to face. There are now thirteen girls, two house moms, and one house manager. I truly couldn’t imagine doing things remotely without the 3 staff members to love these 13 girls so well.
As I stated before, it’s hard to fully update you all on the lives of these sweet girls when I’m not able to be there to watch them grow. But I am so grateful for my sweet “sister” Lorna. She does an amazing job as the house manager as she oversees the currency exchanges, budgets, salaries, etc. She sends me monthly reports of funding and is the first filter when we hear of a possible rescue. She is the reason I get to share these sweet pictures here and on our social outlets and there is no way to fully thank her for dedicating her life to our princesses.
Likewise.. Lorna always reminds me to thank YOU all for her. She is thankful for the ways you love her country, her family, and our girls so well. — Thanks be to Him for making all of these things work together for GOOD.
You are all making such an impact on these girls, this country, and the world around you. Thank you for that. I pray you never grow weary in doing good, even if the fruit of it seems unseen. He sees you, our girls see you, and we are so very thankful.
Until next time, friends :)
