How has COVID-19 affected RH?
Hey Friends,
It’s been a few months since the last time that I wrote you all. All I can say is: Corona Happened.
I landed back in the states March 17, and the world closed. Literally. I self quarantined for 2 weeks, then went into full quarantine with everyone else. I didn’t know March would be my last trip for the Spring/Summer. I thought for sure I’d be back on a plane in May to bring back letters from sponsors, gifts from you all, and all the time to spend with the 11 princess’ who are residing in the home.
But then…Corona.
However, I am hopeful and praying that I will be back on a plane by November 2020. Please pray with me that this happens.
COVID-19 is just as real in Bangladesh as it is here. However, the medical field is not nearly as advanced as it is here. Hospitals are understaffed and overbooked. Many are homeless, so testing isn’t even an option. Many are walking around with the virus with no access to medical help. So, shoulder to shoulder, no mask (bandanas and wraps are the extent of PPE) and no real awareness of safety measures, its a tad more risky to be there.
With the heightened risk and the unknown of who has what, we’ve paused our rescue. This was such a hard call to make, but one the staff and I agreed upon to ensure safety of the 11 girls, 2 staffed moms and cooks that are already in the house. I am earnestly praying for the day that the mission and resume, but the girls are happy and healthy and building a sisterhood like no other and that makes my heart HAPPY.
The summary of this post can be made into 3 request:
Pray for more medical assistance and virus awareness overseas.
Pray for the girls we have not been able to meet and rescue, that their health is protected, their hearts do not lose hope, and that their day to actually see hope is coming soon.
Pray for a potential trip before the end of this year. Selfishly, I want to get back there as soon as possible and bring over all the happies and encouraging letters you’ve all been writing.
(if you were unaware of being able to write them, you can send all letters to PO BOX 1995 Madison, MS 39130)
As always, I thank you for continuing to check in on our favorite little girls and staff. This journey would be 10x harder if I didn’t have the encouragement I have in this community.
Until next time,
Reshma Bangar <3
